Jennifer McKechnie-Howe, Instructional Team Leader, joined Centennial’s counseling team in 2001. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from Towson University and a Master’s degree from Loyola College, and is also a National Board Certified Counselor. Although she was born and raised in Howard County, Ms. McKechnie lived in the United Kingdom for over twelve years. During that time she worked in the Scottish school system and attended Edinburgh University. In addition to her M.Ed. in school counseling she holds a post-graduate certificate in bereavement counseling and worked as a bereavement counselor in Edinburgh for over three years. She is Past President and lifetime member of the Alpha Iota chapter of Chi Sigma Iota, Counseling Academic and Professional Honor Society, and the American Counseling Association. In addition to her responsibilities at CHS she is a co-leader on the county crisis team and worked on the development and implementation of the county’s suicide intervention and prevention procedures.

Jae Hi Hebler was a high school counselor for six years in the Anne Arundel County Public School system and is currently at Centennial High School. She has been in the Howard County Public School System since 2005. She has worked in the Special Education Department of Anne Arundel County Public Schools as a bilingual interpreter, in the Student Services Department for the Family Involvement Center, and as a Technology Transcript liaison with Pupil Personnel Workers for four years. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Education for Guidance and Counseling.

Todd Kriner joined the Centennial Student Services team in July of 2011. He holds a BA degree in Psychology from Dickinson College and a Masters degree in School Counseling from The Pennsylvania State University. Todd is also the head football coach for Centennial. Although he is new to us, Todd has over 16 years of experience in Howard County Schools here he was a guidance counselor, and instructional Team Leader, as well as the varsity football and girls basketball coach at Atholton High School.

Ellen Mauser is the newest member to the Centennial Student Services Team joining the group in August 2011. Ms. Mauser has a BA degree in Psychology from St. Mary's College in Maryland and holds a Masters degree in School Counseling from Loyola College. She has worked as a youth director for middle and high school youth. She also worked for the Domestic Violence Center of Howard County. Ms. Mauser has worked as a counselor in Folly Quarter, Patuxant Valley Patapsco middle schools and most recently worked at the Friendship School in Baltimore City as a college counselor. She is very excited to be joining the team at Centennial.

Christian Sanders has been employed by the Howard County Public School System since 2006. His professional counseling experience includes six years at the elementary and middle school levels with the Prince George’s County School System. While a graduate student at Syracuse University, he worked with middle and high school students, and also worked with Syracuse University’s student-athletes. He has completed post-graduate level coursework and is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor.

Sue Garner is the school psychologist assigned to both Centennial High School and Glenelg High School. Sue has worked in the Howard County Public School System as a school psychologist for over 35 years, serving elementary, middle, and high schools. Her work as a school psychologist includes consultation with staff and parents, collaboration and training with problem-solving teams, direct interventions with students through individual and group counseling and assessments, and helping to develop prevention and intervention plans to assist students with barriers to academic success. These barriers to academic success can be related to cognitive, behavioral, social, and/or emotional concerns.
