Biography: 
  • B.S. in Science Education from Boston University, M.A. in Applied and Professional Ethics from UMBC and M.S. in Biotechnology
  • Taught science in Rhode Island and PG County for 7 years before coming to Howard County in 2003
  • Member of the Maryland Common Core Educator Effectiveness Committee for Centennial High School
 
Sue Carlson - paraeducator AKA Lab Genius
 
Responsibilities: Supervises student science assistants, Laboratory manager
CHS Extracurriculars: Assists at many Eagle sports events (& loves it!)
Biography:
  • Born and raised in Catonsville, MD
  • BA in Biology at McDaniel College
  • worked in basic science depts- JHU Dept of Biomedical Engineering, Brown Univ. School of Medicine Dept of Surgery
  • Married, parent of 2 CHS grads, classes of 2004 & 2007
  • Worked at CHS for 15 years
 
Robert Astri
 
Courses Taught: Chemistry and AP Chemistry
Biography:
  • Began working retail in the music industry, then graduated Towson University, next was a Naval officer, then a commercial loan underwriter for a bank
  • began teaching in Fairfax, VA and two years later came to CHS in 1992
  • married, with 2 sons ages 25 and 23  
 
Stanley Eisenstein
 
Courses Taught: Physics G/T, Physics AP Mechanics, Physics AP Electricity and Magnetism
Biography:
  • teaching physics for 28 years at CHS
  • graduate of University of Pennsylvania with degrees in Chemical Engineering and Chemistry and has a masters in Social Work from the University of Maryland
  • has published articles in the Science Teacher and Physics Teacher magazines and is currently writing an electronic textbook for the G/T and AP level physics courses
  • has walked across England, coast to coast; run a marathon; studied acupuncture in Sri Lanka; composed and performed two albums of instrumental music and competed on Jeopardy   
 
Tara Fadrowski

Biography:
  • taught and coached FH at CHS for 6 years
  • Graduate of Salisbury University with a B.S. in Biology with a concentration in Secondary Education. Currently working towards a masters in Curriculum and Instruction at McDaniel College

  • M.S. from Johns Hopkins University in Earth and Space Science- 2010
  • 7th year teaching, 5th year at Centennial
  • Grew up in Indiana
  • Married and has the cutest baby boy ever :)

Biography:
  • Grew up on Long Island
  • Graduated with a B.S. in Secondary Science Education with a Physics Cert. in 1994 from Widener University
  • Taught middle school for three years, joined CHS staff in 1997
  • Married, two children, who are both future Eagles!

  • B.S. in Biology from Gustavus Adolphus College
  • M.Ed. in Life Science and Chemistry Education from the University of Minnesota
  • Taught for 7 years in MN and 1 in NC before coming to CHS
  • Married with 2 cats and a dog

Biography:
  • Born and raised in MD
  • B.S. in Biology from Towson University with minors in Ecology and Chemistry
  • his botanical interests led him to the University of Georgia where he earned a M.S. in Agronomy and conducted research on Phytochemical Ecology
  • been teaching in MD for 8 years, 5 at CHS

Biography:
  • Grew up in Martinsville, VA
  • Attended the University of Virginia, graduated in 1999 with a B.A. in Environmental Sciences
  • taught 6 years of middle school in Baltimore Co. before coming to CHS in 2007
  • married to my high school sweetheart, have two boys

  • Grew up in Pittsburgh, PA
  • B.S. and Post Baccalaureate course work and research (dept. of Planetary Sciences) at the University of Pittsburgh
  • Masters in Science Education from Duquesne University
  • Doctorate in Astrophysics from James Cook University
  • Taught Astronomy part time at a community college outside Pittsburgh
  • Married with 1 child
